Your concrete contractor should use a line level when building his forms, but check with him to ensure this is the case. Once the concrete is in place, provide him with threaded rod 8 inches long and have him put it into the concrete to mark the corners of the building. This threaded rod will significantly simplify the task of anchoring the building.

Otherwise, you will have to drill through that hardened concrete later, which is a much more difficult task. You should realistic allow for approximately one week to allow the concrete to dry completely. Once this has occurred, you can begin building your steel shed.

Steel sheds come as a ready-made kit and should include all of the hardware and cladding needed for assembly.

Unfortunately, it seems as though some of the hardware is always missing and/or are not of a very high quality to begin with. As such, it may be a good idea to go to the hardware store and pick up a good variety of nuts, bolts and self-tapping screws to have on hand when you assemble your shed. This will be especially helpful if you come across the common situation of having a kit with pre-drilled holes that are not perfectly aligned.

As you embark upon the assembly of your steel shed unit, remember to leave all of the fasteners (meaning the nuts, bolts, screws) a bit loose until every single piece is in place. Once everything has been put in its proper place and no tweaking is required, you can fully tighten them without the threat of you having to go back and undo anything to fix a problem.

A common feature in steel shed kids is interlocking roof panels. Interlocking roof panels are designed using a folded sheet metal hooking, which is intended to keep rain from seeping into the shed. This may not always do the job. As such, it is wise to seal the seams with latex caulk along the inside of the hooking.
